🔴 More than 35 cyclists are killed every year on Spanish roads
I started this dataset in 2018, going deeper into the previous decade and now I have continued to extend it until 2022.
This map geo-localises about 70% of the fatal cyclists hit by a car over the last 15 years. Each of the dots symbolises a fatal hit. If you click on it, you will obtain information about the accident: cyclists killed, date and time, road, circumstances of the driver, link to Google Street View, source of information, etc.
In addition, the link provides an analysis of the dataset, obtained from the Dirección General de Tráfico and from the reading of more than 340 press releases from the media. You can also download the dataset generated and continue working with it.
For this project I have used the following software:
Microsoft Excel to collect the press release information.
PostgreSQL to generate the database and postgis layers.
Leaflet to build the interactive map showing all the hits.
Datawrapper to build the rest of the maps and charts.
Wordpress to write the post
